Another dwarf angelfish captive breeding achievement from Biota Palau—the Yellow Heraldi Angelfish, aka “False Lemonpeel Angelfish”, Centropyge heraldi. It is bright yellow in coloration with faint orange markings on the head, but lacks the blue around the eyes as seen in the Lemonpeel Angelfish, Centropyge flavissima. Some individuals have black edges on the fins, but this variety is entirely yellow. One of the larger Centropyge angelfish, this species grows to an impressive but manageable 4 inches (10 cm).

Editor’s Note: Year after year, as marine angelfish aquaculture continues to be refined, the opportunity for marine fish breeders to be the first to breed a particular species becomes more difficult to find! After consulting with the most recent 2023 List of Captive-Bred Marine Aquarium Fishes, and doing some initial review of available online information, we have determined that this is the first reported successful captive-breeding of Centropyge heraldi. One more species first has been claimed, but there are still opportunities out there for someone wanting to do something that no one else has done!
