“It’s a fast, easy-growing grafted Digitata,” noted John Yull of Reefworks. Furthermore, Yull relayed and agrees with what Eye Catching Coral (ECC) had to say about this very unusual coral.
ECC reports that the coral “came from a natural process of what is assumed to be the combination of a red and green Digitata to form random mixes of these colors throughout…Kept under higher light, the red in this Montipora appears slightly more orange in color, while kept under lower light the red is deeper.”
Photographer Michael Vargas noted that he had the opportunity to document this coral at the Coral Farmers Market Dallas Coral Show. The macro photography that resulted was the product of a stitching technique, combining multiple original photographs into the final result.
