An overview of the components that comprise the MindStream Monitor.
The MindStream Monitor automatically measures 10 water parameters (including Carbonate Alkalinity, Calcium, and Magnesium) every 15 minutes and reports the results to you via our web app that works seamlessly with all web-enabled devices. Simply place the monitor in your tank or sump and receive near-continuous updates on the health of your tank – all for the price of about 1/8 cent per measurement. The MindStream Monitor is based on advanced fluorescent indicator technology and requires no user calibration, consumes no liquid reagents, uses no tank water, requires no pumps or tubing, and generates no toxic liquid waste. By deploying a real-time multi-parameter monitoring strategy, the MindStream Monitor enables reef-keepers to gain new insights into the dynamic and complex nature of reef chemistry. It is the most convenient, reliable, and accurate way to maintain balance in aquarium water.
The MindStream Monitor has no internal wires; it simply mounts magnetically to the aquarium glass.
Testing discs are replaced monthly as part of the subscription service.
The MindStream Monitor is priced at $995 and requires a subscription plan starting at approximately $35/month. The subscription plan covers real-time access to monitor data, helpful graphs and tools, proactive alerts when parameter values are out of range, and a small monthly replacement sensor disc conveniently shipped to you. After 15 months of beta testing and six months of final customer pilot testing, we have been ramping up manufacturing and have units in final testing and calibration now. Initial quantities will be very limited as we scale up operations and, unfortunately, we need to limit sales to U.S. customers for now.

Editor’s Note: We inquired about the suitability of the MindStream Monitor for freshwater applications. MindStream’s response: “In its current configuration, the MindStream Monitor will behave optimally with a salinity higher than 25 ppt and a temperature above 68ºF. If your water is outside of this range, we are unable to guarantee accurate measurements. The reason for this is that our factory calibration procedures take salinity and temperature into account to ensure our strict quality standards. The good news is that we have plans to extend these ranges in the future! Please stay tuned on our website and Facebook page for updates.”
mindstream is a game changer I cannot wait for these to be readily available !
This sounds very cool! But…Seems a bit pricey at at at $1000 plus $420 a year. I know keeping the tank pristine is the goal….does it really need to monitor every 15 minutes….can you have it test say 2 times a day and stretch out those discs longer? not everyone is made of money, Don’t get me wrong i do not usually skimp on my tank but this IS still out of my price range.Wishing it be more cost effective. Until then i guess I just keep testing manually.
Well worth the cost for what you get. It would be much more expensive to run all those tests weekly or biweekly like we should to get the results we want from our tanks. Plus no waste water, no test to buy and use before expiration, no human error (was that 3 or 4 drops I put in) and you get trends of what your tank is doing and not just a spot in time.
