Hawaii’s aquarium fishery is now officially closed, according to this report, just in:
“On Friday, the First Circuit Court — sitting as the Environmental Court — ruled that any and all existing aquarium fish permits issued to commercial collectors to date are illegal and invalid.”
Hawaii’s DLNR is now forced to undertake a Hawaii Environmental Policy Act (HEPA) review of the fishery, and according to the story there is no timeline for if, or when, the fishery could be reopened.
